This is looking like an exciting read aloud book for my middle school students. Many have shown an interest in the Holocaust, finding it very hard to understand and believe.

My second time through but this time on cd. Makes my 50 minutes in the car everyday something to really look forward to. I'm a huge Helprin fan and this comedy/satire is even more amazing after several years ago at the first go through

I'm not blown away by the story. It's close, intense, and distractin how it uses a Christmas man-hunt situation to give the protagonist a platform to tell an alternative meaning to the traditional Christmas story.

I'm reading this to my 2nd period 7th graders. Lots of fun.

So much fun and written with such exuberance and verve!
