One of the relevant truths illustrated by this novel is that relationships do not happen in a blink of an eye. They need time, patience, and transparency in order to function and grow.

It's only now I realize that I don't need you to like me, I need you to obey me because I'm your dad and I do know better.

Kudos, Harry! It's time to put your annoying son in his rightful place. :D

Despite his relatively unappealing looks, poor hygiene, and foul mouth, Sevro is such a lovable character. I pray he stays alive until the end. :3

I start crying again. The relief too much to bear.

I love that Darrow isn't the stereotypical male who bottles up his emotions in fear of emasculation. Who says fully grown men don't or can't cry? XD

He was my friend.

Ugh. Emphasis on was. If there's one thing certain in the Red Rising trilogy, it's betrayal. HEARTBREAKING betrayal.

Jane became something of a walking thesaurus when she was upset, a side effect of too much reading.

Lady Jane Grey is every male bookworm's dream girl. <3

It turns out there's only so long you can sit in silence and stare at a sick dog.

I'm sorry Bertie that you're sick, but thank you for providing an opening for Andie and Clark to clear the air and finally talk. Please do not eat chocolate next time.

Royals desiring to assassinate each other is indeed already a trope in YA, but I like it nonetheless. XD

I'm glad to have watched The Other Boleyn Girl three times before reading this book. Henry VIII was really such a player, to put it mildly. XD

Lesson learned: Don't request too many ARCs on Netgalley. Otherwise, your currently-reading shelf (or TBR) is going to burst. :3

She had slapped Malfoy around the face with all the strength she could muster. Malfoy staggered...as Hermione raised her hand again.

Take that, Draco. Now you know that even Mudbloods are a force to be reckoned with. I rejoice in your humiliation. ^^ #ILoveToHateYou

This is the first time I feel annoyed with Hermione. I do love her, and I know that she only wants to keep Harry safe. However, why should she go so far as to have his new Firebolt confiscated? :(

I took a deep breath, secretly hoping that there weren't any rules against dating people whose dogs you were walking.

Even though this book looks tediously thick, I'm having a breezy time reading it because it's just so cute. Andie and Clark's ship is obviously gonna sail soon. ^^

It's Christmas season in Hogwarts, but quite a lot of cat fights are happening.

1. Crookshanks vs. Scabbers (I really want the latter to die already)
2. Ron vs. Hermione (I love cats, so I'm logically biased)
3. Professor McGonagall vs. Professor Trelawney (The former's subtle insults are hilarious)

'Tis such a lovely holiday, isn't it? :D

Albus's erratic behavior is getting out of hand, and I can't stop myself from comparing him to his father. Although Harry tended to be impulsive, at least he managed to carefully weigh the consequences of his choices and actions. It's a pity that Scorpius has to get dragged into such stupidity.

Albus Potter is such a moody brat. He's starting to get on my nerves with all his self-centered drama.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have been walking dogs in a fancy dress. I wouldn't have been spinning out, with no idea of what I was going to do with my summer. And until I figured it out, I knew I shouldn't be flirting with random dog owners, no matter how cute they were.

Andie cutely illustrates how the mind can overpower the heart when it comes to love. Clark might just be her silver lining. :D

My boss at work kindly lent me a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and I'm quite scared to start reading it. Our dear booktubers have been giving it mere 2 stars! :( I probably should clear my mind of any expectations. :3 #FingersCrossed

If I let myself think about the bigger picture—like what this actually meant for my future—I knew I would start to spiral out. I needed to think about my next immediate steps.

I'm beginning to like Andie already. She just has this admirable way of staying rational in spite of the fact that her perfectly planned out life is now crumbling to pieces. You go girl.

Rory is such a pitiful character. Because of her anxiety disorder, she is always conscious of what her "friends" think of her. Furthermore, she simultaneously assumes the worst about herself and others. She's been taking pills to somehow address the problem, but it's just not working. I wonder how she'll manage to grow closer to Ned.

All I could think as my dad turned back to the press was how strange this all was—this bizarre theater we were performing for the national press on our front porch.

Andie and her dad are practically like housemates on Big Brother. This is my third contemporary read this year with parental issues. I suppose I should start expecting this trope nowadays. :(
