I believe I have read all of Mr. Rutherfurd's books. When I wrote to him about a particularly striking passage in his Princes of Ireland, he wrote a very nice letter back. I have been looking forward to this book coming out for some time.

I will be reading this one out loud to my wife over then next few months, starting tomorrow.

I discovered Roger Scruton through his brilliant, and, to me, stunning "What is Music?"

This book is a lighter tome, albeit with with an academic scholar's vocabulary and erudition.

I shall be reading it more sporadically, as I am in no hurry and have other things I am working on.
