Still brilliant, I simply don't want this to end (some would say it feels like it newer does) but I would't miss a word - So glad I found the unabridged version this time around.

Steady on course for a solid 5 star.

Somehow i enjoy this volume far more than the previous two, maybe its because the scene is now set and there is less need for lond descriptions.

Incredible that a rather long winded story about scientists in the baroque age with more characters than anybody can keep track on, can be so captivating

It's a vampire story, but it's not YA. It's intelligent, full of human insight.

My first, but definitely not the last Butler.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect, but it came highly recommended.

At first it was a little confusing, with the cultural revolution and all the Chinese names, but it evolves quickly into something very interesting.

Not Wildly impressed so far, it feels more aged than I would expect

Wildly imaginative.

I'm especially impressed with the way he adapts the narrative between the books, in quicksilver it's the educated elite's story told in a controlled steady tone, In this book the Vagabond Kings story is racing along with many a detour and half truths.

A very interesting tale, full of hints of old mysteries and legends, from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away :-)

Just as stunning as I remembered it and with the unabridged version so much more background on Daniels relationship with Drake and the royal society.

Quite interesting, a fresh take on the secret ghost police.

It's very English and the narrator is very true to the London accent, even as a regular visitor to London I have to rewind at times to catch a sentence.

Back on track, now with the unabridged version :-

It's a mark of a great story that's interesting even when hearing the same parts again after a few days.

My second time around this one, first time was a little annoying as my audiobook came mixed up out of sequence
This time in the correct order I quickly noticed 2 things

1. This is a brilliant story totally outside any known category.
2. The version I have is the abridged one,, even though I found the narrator brilliant I have decided to switch to the now available unabridged version.

Done with the battle on the pelinor plain and we are ready to the final part of the story following Frodo and Sam into Mordor.

The production is still stunning the story simply flows like with the music and sound effects.

After a very slow uptake (nothing much happened the first quarter ) things are progressing and I'm beginning to recognise the writer of snow crash again.

Back with Frodo and Sam, been though the dead marches and just left Faramir to head for Minas Morgul.

Totally not blown away....

I know this is early work by Stephenson, but still I would have expected more

What can i say, you either love or hate Connie Willis's narrative style, I happens to love it and this (two) books are no exception I'm simply captivated by the story,

Simply stunning something like a blend of Gaimann's American Gods and Stepenson's Reamde on speed, but in reality very much a work in its own right (I definitely see a 5 start coming up)

Got though the battle at Helms deep and the destruction of Isengrad, this book is so much better than I remembered especially Merry, Pippin and the Ents.

The three companions reunited with Gandalf and on their way to Edoras.

Phil Dragash's production is breathtaking, by far the best audio adaption I have listened to.

The very last Desmond Bagley book, a reread from many years ago and up to now far better than I remember

just completed the Merry & Pippin with the ents, it's so much more moving in the book than in the movie, back to the leftovers of the fellowship in Fangorn

If you have read the other Oxford time travel books, you know what to expect, its intelligent written, witty in places and totally addictive.

Maybe heading for my first really disappointment with a Silverberg book, seems a little messy with infodumps and some characters just unending jabbering on.

Followed the three companions over the plains of Rohan and left them in Fangorn, jumped to Merry and Pippin with the orcs and followed them to Fangorn as well, where they just met Treeberd one of my favourite characters

Just completed the departure of Boromir and are on the plains of Rohan with Aragon, Gimli and Legolas.

Just like meeting up with old friends
