This has begun to feel like no matter how many pages I turn, I'm not getting any closer to the end. It reminds me of the time we got lost hiking. When we finally found the track we were 8hrs behind schedule and the rest of the walk seemed like it would never end.

However, I'm still mostly enjoying this ride. Just about a million pages left.

I'm enjoying this very much more than anticipated. I added it to my list for the "scifi-fantasy" prompt but so far this is pure scifi. I'm expecting wizards or dragons to show up eventually but so far so good (I don't hate fantasy, I just heart scifi more). Actually, I've got a feeling the fantasy stuff will be related to the "Xeno-suit" and will be a bit superhero like. Just a million or so pages to go (ETA ~ 17hrs)

I'm gonna finish this sucker today, I really am. I've been off reading lately but I'll make up for it

I should not be reading this book.

I'm already feeling rather uncertain about this one. It's supposed to be written in 2nd person but it certainly doesn't look that way on page 3 or page 100 or page 150. It's definitely going to be silly, well that's OK. Here we go.

This is proving to be much less than anticipated.

I'm blown away and completely absorbed by this story.

Home stretch.

Struggling a little bit. The story so far is interesting but it's told a little blandly. I'm trying to race through the litverse but I've stopped twice in this one from boredom.

Just over 2 hours to go and I can't wait.

Not really enjoying this at all.

Comfort Read

So far, I'm failing to see the significance of these events..... I better hold my breath in anticipation of a big reveal.

This story starts by jumping back in time to look at events occurring simultaneous to those which we read about at the beginning of the Genesis Wave trilogy.

Have you ever wondered what it'd be like if every character in a single Star Trek story confused love with lust? No? Me neither.

A Ferengi and a Bajoran walk into a bar...

Starts off viewing things from a new perspective and has me intrigued about this new direction.

I also just met Teska, a character that Vornholt had created for his TOS novel 'Mind Meld'. Little bit of a wtf-moment.

I'm into it.

Amazing. Well crafted new aliens and very familiar ones brought in too. Loads of actual science. Excellent characterisations. And a mysterious plot. 5 stars so far.

A significant bump up in length and so far so good, but no fantastic mission like a plunge into the sun yet. This seems to be even more an exploration of the political aspects of Brin's universe and the ways which that affects the various players in this story. It's a broad concept and deserves the extra attention but I'm yet to feel excited about these events. Think of KSR's change from Red Mars to Green Mars.

Pretty good story. Doc Two is great. Jamie isn't quite right, he's fairly aggressive in this one.

Not as well written as the last one I read, but the plot is based on a more fun scenario

The story is very good so far
