Enjoying this read. I found Myers’ second chapter especially helpful, wherein he takes an in-depth look at the political world of Jesus and of Mark (placing the writing of the Gospel on the brink of the Jewish War). To see the ministry of Jesus and the witness to him in Mark’s Gospel against the socio-political backdrop of their day helps to clarify and point out the ways in with the kingdom of God is unique.
