Smart! Probably wouldn’t fly today but still believeable to me. As was her reaction at first even if she liked his attention.

Hmmm an odd mix of high school and urban fantasy! I hope it’s more the latter than the former.

Everything ended up closing up well. Magical realism, light romance, mental health, grief, friendship, neighborhood unity. Father-daughter relationship.

Exciting end. Predictable. Love it’s a stand-alone even if it continues into a series. Positives snark and action. Negatives a lot of description that didn’t feel like world building. Not very dragon filled.

They make it to the spell person! Dodging cyborg soldiers who are in the area.

Unfortunately the stories have no specific audience... the early ones have lessons like for young readers with comic art. The later stories were for adults with almost no point just a moment in a story. It’s an odd collection but I did enjoy it. The art is truly great! I only dislike 1 or 2 stories.

The Flying Ogre by Ron Chan (China) I could read more about this story! It read like a teaser perhaps better in color but still loved the art! Maybe my favorite?!

Hoichi the Earless by Nina Matsumoto (Japan) That was a fun story with great art to back it up! A bit too creepy for the age group but another favorite of mine! Just think about that title...

Gold Sister, Silver Sister, Wood Sister by Blue Delliquanti (Tibet) I loved that the two sisters were seen as beautiful though it’s quite odd that the 3rd supposedly plain sister was the villain. No real point to the story either.

The Three Rhymesters by Meredith McClaren (China) This is a cute drinking game where two husbands gang up on the third and his wife comes out and explains why his rhyme schooled there’s. Totally NOT appropriate for this group of stories but maybe my favorite due to originality in story and art.

Tamamo the Fox Maiden by Terry Blas (Japan) hmmm this one was too adult for the age group even though the art was pretty and in keeping with the story.

The History of the Spectre Ship by Caitlyn Kurilich (Arabian Peninsula)
Love it for the art alone, THE best of the bunch and a typical ghost ship story.

The Legend of Asena by Kel McDonald (Turkey) cute romance with a little battle. Interesting art if not my favorite. Love the shape shifting.

Tongue Cut Sparrow by Ayano Hattori and Nick Dragotta (Japan) love the art... best yet?! The story is creepy in a good way I think kids would relate to and that end!!!

Hahaha one of my favorite stories though it be another classic! That Jackal!! The art was old world and got the story well.

The Ballad of Mulan by Jonathon Dalton (China)
The art isn’t my favorite but I like the Chinese characters used in the dialogue and the battle scenes.A classic rendition of Mulan but I enjoyed its message about gender.

Loved this story and the creepy way it ended! The art was fabulous and I wanted to join Taro.

Uhhh stupid! Poor art, story with abrupt end. Only 2 pages!

Origin of the rainbow... stupidly betrayed not sure this goes with the other stories for middle school kids.

The guy tricks 2 foxes but repents?! I don’t know it wasn’t shown very well... should have been my favorite..,

Two Foxes by Carla Speed McNeil (Japan)

Sooooo funny ! I thought this was hilarious such a cute little story about food

Ghost Pepper by Shannon Campbell and Molly Nemecek (Laos)

Haha out tricked a tiger... this was quite a conventional story.

The Girl Who Married a Tiger by Cat Farris (India)

Hahaha loved the frog story! First romance one but in a fun way. That last shot was adorable
