The co=parenting in this is soooo cute, but I will say there is no reason they are not together rn

Alright making fun of an obviously indigenous man for having a name like "Too Tall" (which is also weird to make him have) isn't cool but hopefully it's a weird one off? Surprised that was never taken out bc it doesn't do anything

"if that girl wants s'mores, she's getting them" OKAY DAD lol I thought Cora would be annoying but she's actually a cool and realistic kid. I like that she's not getting shoved aside for the romance aspect

Okay!! I like that Ford is attracted to her but not overly horny like many other MMCs. Their scenes on the dock are sooo cute, first when he lets her have alone time and then when they share the chips. Ford "never telling her no" is also v romantic

Alright. I love West. Goofy and genuine and not the MMC rn lol but he makes Ford look better by being his friend. Also I'm surprised Rosie has gotten this far in her career and just now getting groped by who's obviously the World's Most Sexist Man

Love how this is written! I'm having trouble remembering all the names via audiobook besides Lydia, Mitchel and Gayle for some reason

interesting changes to make Tom more of a modern racist ("you're one of the good ones" instead of just. hating all brown people) and the underground queer scene

Loving this remix already! Adding some elements like race and white-passing, transgender characters without losing the original messages of materialism - so far we'll see if it gets bogged down by the romance

"You can't stop a country from happening, Good Stab." "But we were already a nation." im CRYING This is so intense even though it's really just two guys talking - but everything with the crucifix and the slow confession

I like that the pastor is getting paranoid and really taking Good Stab as a threat, which Good Stab is also playing with him a bit each time they meet - though he's telling this heartbreaking story of losing his culture

Starting off okay - a bit of clunky exposition but the characters seem interesting - Mari's bratty bc she has to deal with so much at home and her mom's got ISSUES with how poor she is. Taylor is probably on the spectrum lol preferring silence and fawning

"I am the Indian that can't die. America's worst dream." Bruh
I'm absolutely LOVING this so much. Good Stab's struggle between surviving as something new and feeling like he betrays his culture so much. The interesting vampire lore like how he takes on animals traits of that's all he eats. The struggle between the animalistic desire and what's smart to survive

This is one of those books where if you say "it's boring" or the "writing was too hard" I'm going assume you're not very smart at all

I think maybe this isn't hitting because it's written too simply. And the dialogue is rather generic. Not a lot of time with Archer's actual feelings

Really wish this was more dirty dancing than just. Having the same setting and they're both already classic dancers. It's missing the slight danger of "getting caught" like the movies have. I also don't care about Caleb at all. Archer is just fine?

Yeah...I just gotta disagree with saying that Midnights is the height of Gothic references in her discography, this chapter had the most reaches for connections (and even referenced more ROMANTIC writers than Evermore). These two should have switched genres

I disagree with saying that Midnights is somehow more Gothic era than Evermore, I feel like the authors were too attached to the "narrative evolution" of the albums in order to admit this though - Evermore is all about hauntings and references gothic novels left and right (besides Gatsby or Appalachian themes)

Really liked the discussion of Decadence, using the madwoman and witch hunt imagery in Reputation, though I don't actually like the songs or think she's that tortured lol
Lover is uninteresting to me and so was the chapter. Doesn't easily fall into the narrative they're making around Swift

The 1989 era discussions are my favorite (and most believable) so far - the glitz and glamour with an undertone is disillusionment and rejection of the rules

I'm actually sucked into this more than I expected. Most of these are weak connections or reaches at best, but it's still pretty fun! You can see the passion for both literature and silly TS songs

Oh soooo cute already! Small town YA wlw romance with what looks like tons of DND ahead! I'm glad when they can join an already formed group, and having dual POVs is fun. Also if this town can handle a non binary teenager, they can handle a bisexual lol Ollie shouldn't be so worried about telling people

I can buy this version better - she's not going to dress as a man and pretend to be him, but instead pretend her father never actually said he was a man at all and he's been HER this whole time. Alas, RIP bisexual Shang, but at least this doesn't tread dangerous water into trans issues this way - just that woman can be masculine too

Turned into a locked room mystery for a bit rather than a detective novel - getting a little tired of the TALKING and constant interrogations. Need a bit of scuffle or something.
