I quit. This is just a series of arguments designed to fight straw men constructed out of misreadings of arguments by Sedgwick and Warner.

Here's a phrase that indicates my (chief) problem with the book so far: "...the reformers firmly fixed gender and sexuality as the chief site of national and personal morality."
There is no grammatical error above; or rather we might say that the grammatical error above ("gender and sexuality" are a "site" rather than "sites") indicates Greven's underlying assumption that "gender and sexuality" are a single object.

Everyone that I've told that I'm reading this book has looked at me like I'm crazy. "Thomas Hardy??! " they say incredulously. But I'm loving it.
