So far, I am frustrated with this book but not yet too frustrated. Its insights about how different theorists have thought about masochism are helpful and intriguing. Pp. 1-78 are not really about racism, though, as far as I can tell. I'm reading it to see what it says about violence and victimhood, but Musser, so far, only nods at race, noting that race makes the discussions she's just concluded more complicated.
