not gonna lie this book is making me feel a lil sick. the r*pe statistic…i knew it but it freaks me out every time i hear it. peekay’s parents discussion with her about it 😭 i hope every parent has that kind of honest convo with their kid

this is very interesting especially the pov’s that were chosen…i’m curious to see how this will unfold

yes it’s important at this point in time (in the book) to acknowledge AIDS and the horrible neglect from the government BUT did the valedictorian at graduation really need to make her whole speech about it? it’s just felt weird and again not natural? idk

okay this book is full of great lessons but it just doesn’t flow well with the story 😭 and the characters are too perfect. like the author will note flaws but like are they even flaws??? i might be in the minority but i like my characters to be more flawed and that’s something i really appreciated in the first book. they weren’t perfect but they were trying their best

damn this book is really starting to turn around. i’m actually enjoying it?? it finally has some purpose and the last few chapters have been so touching and wise. it’s reminding me of the first book in this duology which is so cute 😊 and it’s okay and dante is present more <3333

the author is just giving me scraps of ari and dante together 😭 like i get that they want to develop ari’s character but at least do the same to dante,, i miss him :(( and also this book is not really romantic?? it feels just like a slice of life which i did not sign up for

hmmm the racist teacher situation was super unrealistic not that it doesn’t happen but like it felt so staged and forced so the author could make a point about racism being bad. could’ve flowed better. what cracked me up tho was when the author wrote “everyone gave us a thumbs up” (us being the students who stood up to the teacher). so funny, imagine a whole class saying nothing just giving a thumbs up lmao

u know the last few chapters about friendship have been really nice 🥺

this book is strange… where tf is dante and why is ari’s first day of senior year so long lmao. and the author is trying reallyyyy hard to paint him as this really great, humble guy who engages in fist fights but does it for a greater cause like… it’s just coming off as phony. i liked when ari was a little moody and upset about some of the shit that goes on in life but now he feels like a whole new character

literally how the hell is this book 437 pages long…there is no plot! which honestly i’d be more okay with if it was actually interesting :( this was my most anticipated read for 2021 and i’m so disappointed

i’m sorry i’m just really upset that this book is not living up to my expectations. the authors is grasping at straws trying to make things deep when they just aren’t and it’s annoying. i also have no idea why this book is even a thing?? there’s no plot yet, i’m so confused

i see what this this book is trying to do…but i hate the execution of it. it seems so far removed but trying so hard to make a political statement. it’s just coming off as fake deep and i’m not staying engaged:(
