Still relevant today - p. 69 "...Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure! On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility. No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?" Sound familiar, New York?

I'm finding the reporting from Afghanistan especially interesting. These articles were written when I was a senior in high school, and a bit unaware of the details of our war over there. It doesn't sound like the infrastructure and government has changed much in 10 years from what I hear from my husband. Also fun - Senator (now VP) Biden is mentioned as he visited Afgh. leadership in Kabul at the beginning of the war

After seeing a 9/11 special on nat geo the other night, I felt like I needed to press on through this book/collection of articles. It's good to remember where we were at as a nation 10 years ago, and what brought us to the point we are at now... my husband alone has done 2 tours to Afghanistan. This is reminding me why we got started into this mess.
