This is the most thrilling and satisfying history of philosophy I've encountered--more so even than Will Durant's classic (in my opinion)! I've made it through to Plato, and I think I'll let the Pre-Socratic phase settle in a bit before continuing.

Brilliant compendium and annotation of Judaic, Messianic, and Christian literature, tracing out the various formulations of opposing factions between Orthodox Judaism and Christianity.

This is a brilliant piece of literature concerning, chiefly, though not always ostensibly, the search!

"A man can look at this little pile on his bureau for thirty years and never once see it. It is as invisible as his own hand. Once I saw it, however, the search became possible." What a powerful and delightfully Proustian opening to this existential classic!

Chris Via is finished with Sayings of the Fathers: Pirke Aboth
This great source of wisdom had become (at least) annual reading.
