This is my second pass at what has been called the most important philosophical work of the twentieth century. I recall becoming rundown and baffled on my first attempt, obstreperously collapsing into the last page; therefore, I shall slow things down this time.

I'm not sure if I've ever read a classic with two characters (Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshow/Linton) of such caustic temperament! I also delight in Brontë's sly shifting of narration from a man (Lockwood) to a woman (Mrs Neal). She even has the male character affirm the female's narrative ability. What a clever little jab in hindsight, now that we know that Ellis Bell is actually Emily.

Two pages of notes from the first page alone, and a delightfully fluid character in Mr Lockwood. I've known for a while that I would enjoy this novel. The time has finally come to dig into it!

QED explains everything in the natural universe except for gravity and radiation. Oh, it's also completely absurd from the position of common sense.
