The first murder?

This is my second "Jade Monroe" book and so far they have both been a good read and the narrative has held my attention on my commute each day.

They are a little grisly though. Jade does seem to attract the more gruesome and bloodthirsty loonies for serial killers........

Things are happening and coming together. Is it going to be an upside down story? The bad guys are good and the good guys bad?

Can Haller trust the Sly's?

Just downloaded the book on Kindle. I had already read a out this much on the sample at the end of a Bosch book.

So as soon as I can I'll pick up where I left off.

A bit more violent on this side of the law and you really want to see one character bested and feel some pain.

Darwin is left behind. I like the mixture of "factoids" as Steve Wright in the Afternoon might put it, allied to a travelogue. For me though, a little more of the travelling.... the people met would make it 5* book instead of the 4* I am going to plump for.... ;)

Arriving in the Land of Oz.

It's been a while since I reached 17% and then moved on to more exciting works from the "Bosch" series by Michael Connolly and the Dragon series from Robin Hobb.

So here I am back on the snail trail.

Picked this book up as a holiday read and have never read any of her books before. I had not read anything about her either so have no preconceptions.

However, guessed that she wasn't Welsh as our Celtic cousins across the Dyke don't use "gotten" in general parlance.

Havng been to Wales many times I am amazed that anyone would swim the Menai..... ;)

Getting nearer the end. No sooner does something good happen than the terrible Hest is brought back into it.

Superb Hobb as usual.

In Book 1 I got to like Alise. But struggled to invest emotion in other characters.

In Book 2 I added Thymara and Rapskal.

In this book everything had opened up and more bones on the characters and the dragons have become more likeable. Let's see how it goes.

Getting into it. Dragons check. But recently introduced charters Alise and Hest, not so sure about them.

Set this aside as a new Michael Connolly book appeared on Kindle.

I never got on with the Live Ships stories and in the final volumes of the Fitz and the Fool life cycle had to endure a few, but at the moment I am just not feeling this.

I have to have a character in which to invest some emotion. Like the Live Ships I can't find that connection.

Currently easily put-down-able to make a word up.

The premise seemed good but it's hard to exactly say where it all goes a bit tits up.

Have been having Bosch withdrawal symptoms. Have made do with the Amazon TV adaptation. which incidentally have been excellent.
