Ah the Flying Swan. So much like the Beehive where many a lunch was consumed after the short walk from work on the A4 Great West Road... In those far off days of the 70's and early 80's. When a beer and a pie wasn't frowned on by management!!!

Coming to a head now. The dwarf revolution is over. The train made all this possible. What next? Moist invents the bicycle?

I've read every one of the 40 discworld books and enjoyed them all, except Mort. I missed Rincewind but new characters have arrived to keep us interested. Another good read so far.

What might come as a surprise is the rowdy antics of the boys on the voyage across from Oz. We are always led to believe it's only our generation (whenever it happens) that are hobby, now we know it goes way back.

Just been at the Tower with the wizards revolt and then the dragon's tale. Keeping the story going and them back to Hemlock.....

The writing is better than the first book and this makes it a more satisfying read. I can't find myself liking the central character of Hemlock. On the one hand she has been thrust into being the leader of the free world, but she comes over as some pouty Lohan like character, on the other her mood swings are quite bizarre. The only character that comes this far with any glory is Merit.

Sometimes the English is not that good but it is being translated from Romanian. Ana and John convey not only the bare bones of the ride, but their feelings about the Adventure. Seeing a new wonderful world through experiencing it. Having been latched onto by "Ahmed" and given the souk tour and carpet shop experience. I can appreciate how hard it shake your "guide" off.

Arrived in Africa. I guess the book was written in Romanian and translated into English, but although some sentences are a little strange, the feelings come over well. The urge to travel infuses every paragraph.

Just finished my last book and have downloaded this one. I need a short break from fantasy/sci-fi. What could be better than reading about someone else having an adventure on their bike.

Scene set and some action. At first the italiced jumps back to the past to fill in background seemed to break the current action up. Still an enjoyable read.

Cracking on nicely. I have read or (sadly) attempted to read everything by Mr Rankin. Only the Brighton books have defeated me; an old and loyal reader since the Brentford books came out. Reviews that suggest that this is simply a rehashed Bell/Darwin novel are talking out of their arses. Maybe they haven't read this one at all?

Scene setting and some set up work on the characters but little action so far. A suspicious fatality at the airport and a couple of piss heads with guns. I see the barkeep, Bill, as played by Marlene Dietrich for some reason...

I have read everything he was written. Loved the Brentford stuff but gradually fell out with Brightonomicon. Just a shit read. Hopefully this will bring back the story and plot that is worth sticking with.
