I was due for some good alien romance and this is shaping up nicely

Wishing everyone who had a crappy January a f'ing fantastic February full of four and five stars and no slumping and good energy! If your January wasn't crappy, I think you might be in the minority, but also hoping your February's just as great!

Past Me: this book gets a 5 star and that one and oh this duet.

Current Me: This gets a 4.5 rounded down because reasons, that one's just 4 stars, I don't know how I felt about this so 3 stars over here.

Past Me: I'll read ANYTHING and finish! I can't believe all the choices!

Current Me: *DNFs 4th book in a row and worries about a slump*

Growing as a reader's a good thing right? 😂

Sadly this is a dnf for me. What started off as promising with great messaging, is falling flatter the longer I read. Now it’s 41% and the h and H have had a couple of cute interactions but the book is making them seem like so much more with the h wondering if she’s falling for him while I scratch my head. Someone else may love but I’m moving on.

I like this, I do, but as the story goes on, I’m just not feeling gripped…I’m giving it some more time though.

It looked more like the whole purpose of me being on the show would be to land a boyfriend.” She wasn’t even sure if she was ready for that right now. She’d spent so much time since Grandma Helen died hiding the parts of herself she feared were embarrassing. It felt like she needed to put herself back together first, before letting someone else in.

Love that her priority is herself!

It hinted again at the possibility of something softer, more bashful, under his gruff exterior, and the urge to break through it hit Everly like a truck. She gave in to it, slowly dragging up her hem above her knee. He yelped. “What are you doing?” “You said you needed to get under my dress.” She could barely stifle her laughter.

Love her personality and peeks of his grumpiness hiding softness.

“Everly’s mother, half of social media, random passersby on the street, everyone had their own ideas about how someone who looked and acted like Everly should exist in the world. And navigating it all—insisting that she had the right to live exactly as she was—was exhausting. It was easier to blend in. Be quiet.”

“But she wasn’t trying to hide her body like most of the show’s guests. It was more that she was trying to blend in. Disappear.”

This is going to hit the feels I just know it…

The author’s note is immediately amazing:

“My characters and I use the word “fat” throughout this book, but it is meant as a neutral descriptor, nothing more…For me, challenging fatphobia through my stories means creating main characters who love themselves…When we meet Everly, she is struggling with who she is, not what she looks like, though sometimes the two can feel intimately entwined...”

I'm super relieved that my pup is almost completely healed up from his injury last week, but sadly, now I have to go back to work and can't spend all day cuddling my dogs and reading...adulting stinks.

I almost made it a whole day without this app messing up so GR had to “fix” that 😒

My weekend's started on an awful note. There was a fur baby emergency (resulting in stitches for the poor guy) and now I can't focus when today was going to be the first day I could start a new book since the Great Rebecca Ross Sob Fest of 2024 (TM pending). So I'm cruising GR to scope out what everyone else is reading/adding.

Yep I’m going to just wipe out all the tissues in my house at once 🤷‍♀️😂😭

I still haven’t had much reading time so this may take a couple days but friends love this so I’m excited!

I had a tough day of work today and probably another one coming tomorrow with a busy weekend ahead. Re-reading for comfort here I come!

This has been such a mood reader Monday, sadly not of the super excited variety.

This light and hilarious read was exactly what I needed. They race across campus to try and beat the other to the library spot and it devolves/evolves from there 🤣

The way these two semi-adults fight over a chair in a library has me laughing like an idiot 😂

Yep, he did something stupid. But she stood up for herself and that’s so satisfying to read.

They’re just adorable geeking out over classic literature and getting the giggles together. But neither feels they could have a future together so that’s a bummer.

It’s always fun when you have a segment of letter writing in a historical and this part was hilariously fun.

Ok, it’s cute he’s a virgin and worried about his lack of experience. It’s not cute he thinks part of his strong attraction to the h is due to that and his solution to the h not being “appropriate” is to find a lady to marry and have sex with 🧐. I know from reviews he doesn’t find anyone else or specifically want anyone else but c’mon man!

First DNF of the year in the books and I’m not even mad about it. On to the (hopefully) next better thing! 🤞

Why is it so hard when fictional characters make poor judgments? Even when you know it works out, it hurts! 😭

Well, I didn't meet my reading goal but I'm ending the year on an Alice Coldbreath read so I'm pretty happy with that. No number goals for me in 2024 because they stress me out and honestly, I don't need a push to read any more than I already do lol.
