Don’t get me wrong — this is very well written & is slower than most enemies to lovers I’ve read that advertise as E to L. It has great politics at play & an interesting magic system. BUT the love interest is okay w/ genocide, I can tell he’s been manipulated but I can’t tell if he regrets any of it. AND they’re clearly attracted to each other 50% of the way through (and earlier), so it’s not tHAT slow

I like this guy, Surakwel, and he’s right. The love interest is genocidal and has NOT shown enough that he disagrees with his kingdoms war. Why is the MC preventing him from the duel bc she’s afraid HE’LL get hurt? We know the love interest is going to survive, and he’s the wrong one here anyway 🙄

Honestly I think I got spoiled with Susan Dennards’ Bloodwitch — now THAT’S an enemies to lovers done perfectly. This isn’t bad at all, like it’s honestly one of the better ones I’ve read and I hope the ending pulls through, bUT I can *see* the writing, if that makes sense, and with how much these two are actual enemies, it should be going even slower than it is (dw, it’s slow, but I got spoiled XD)
