“she could have sworn she saw the Red Maiden turn away to hide a smile in her hands. Nerida was openly smirking, and when she turned to Grim, he was gazing at her with unabashed adoration. Cheeks warming she looked away and shuffled her feet awkwardly.”

This is just an example of how confusing it’s been sometimes when nouns/pronouns aren’t used. “She turned to Grim” — who? Red Maiden? Nerida? Serena?

“The battle with Nerida had taken a lot out of him, she realized. Fucking Faery, she needed to find the queen!”

I totally forgot about the rose on her chest, it only gave her pain/was brought up like twice

I like this line, it feels very classic fairytale

She had a week as the little mermaid to get him to love her, spent only like 3 days of that week with him, and he’s already in love?

Before they said the ball started at sunset, now it’s before sunset and she’s going to die by sunset… confused

She knew it was unfair, but part of her was angry at him for not fighting harder against the spell, for not regaining his memories on time. For looking at another woman the way he had only ever looked at her. “Look at me,” he said, and then gentler, “Please.”

None of this is his fault omg! Yall are both so possessive and it’s not cute

There’s been a lot of good female characters in this, but this interaction just feels nasty. Again, she’s a fictional character playing a role

Why wasn’t this set up or even thought of earlier and what does “impossible” even mean/look like?

“Raising her eyebrows at the challenge, she gave him a mischievous smile. Emile, her second-oldest brother had taught her to ride a horse when she was but a child, and she had taken to it like a natural.”

We’re almost 90% of the way through and is the first we’re hearing of this

Why is jealously to the point of bodily harm considered romantic?

I’m sorry, but are they seriously expecting me to believe that she’s questioning whether or not he loves her just because he hasn’t said that exact word yet? He’s had so many grand romantic declarations of not wanting to exist without her and you expect me to share her doubt ???? Girl it’s so obvious please 😭

Please try writing stuff down lol this was always the plot hole in the little mermaid
