I started reading this book with an impending sense of doom. Having read and loved Still Alice and Left Neglected, I am familiar with Lisa Genova's ability to build a deep and moving story around a medical storyline. As ever she doesn't fault - the unfurling of the diagnosis (not a spoiler) and the building of tension in this ordinary family is masterful. I can't wait to read on....

Am really enjoying reading this, good writing style not as pretentious as I thought it would be at 25% in. But not sure I'm concentrating enough as finding it takes time to remember where I'm up to and who is who but intriguing so far... If only I wasn't so busy and had more time to read!!!!

Wow. Not sure what I was expecting as had been on my wishlist for a while but really enjoying this - the threads come together then jump apart. Feels like it would make a really good film...

If you see my review of the first book in his series, you'll see it's not particularly well written - but I do want to know more...

A little confusing keeping up with who is who given the fact there are 3 wives who despise the 4th... Interesting story, but no real insights into their lives in Nigeria so far. A few anecdotes about their different upbringings but would like more... But an easy read and not too dark (yet)

Wow. This was a random book I stumbled across and has fallen into the surprised and can't put it down categories. So much so that I've almost missed my stop on the tube not once but three times yesterday. An easy read, interesting story. Quite a few twists but not earth-shattering but a good, easy "light" read. Doesn't really address some of the key issues (yet)...

Really enjoying this book. Characters well drawn out, there's a dose of comedy/farce and the changing locations work well together. William Boyd is an excellent writer - can't believe it's taken me a while to discover this one...

Wow. What a beautifully written, compelling saga. Was expecting more of a holocaust book but thankfully was more of an insight into the other hardships and had a very different perspective which made it refreshing. Loved the stories of the three brothers and their family. Tears rolled down my face as I read the last 5%. Simply beautiful and well worth the read,

Can't believe it's taken me this long to start this amazing book. Probably because I only had a tablet version before and can now read on the kindle.... So far it's great...
