A Beautiful Place to Die (Martha's Vineyard Mystery #1)
I’m not sure I can read this all the way through. It was written in 1989 and boy does it show. Some weird old guy stuff in here. Also some weird vernacular. Everyone keeps saying that a young man who was addicted to drugs went away and,”took the cure.” What the heck? Took the cure? Who ever used this expression? I’m 53 and have lived in Massachusetts all my life and have never heard it.
Wooden writing.

Okay. So I think I have told this story a million times ~ but here it is again because it is relevant to this book (and why I love it so far).
In my Amherst library there were two librarians. One librarian always suggested books to me that she thought would feed my soul. Books that I would want to read. The other gave me books she thought would further my growth as a human being. Books I needed to read.

Hiss and Hers (Agatha Raisin, #23)
Will all of you please stop reading!? lol Kidding. However it is truly maddening when I try to find an audiobook on Libby and everything I want has been borrowed /: I had to skip over,”Christmas Crumbles” because someone already had it (rats!). I was able to get,”Hiss and Hers.” To my horror Penelope Keith is NOT the narrator! The new narrator is awful. So bitter. I need some Easter candy to sweeten me up.

Help. I can’t seem to read anything. I’m in a weird reading dry spell.
I am enjoying reading other people’s reviews and adding to my huge TBR list.
*sigh*

Okay. I can’t finish this book. It isn’t the book. It’s me.
I think I have changed.
I have always loved slashers. Horror is my genre.
Yet I can’t get into it.
Same thing happened with the Buffy books.
I guess I have outgrown them.
RIP anything close to my youth.

Sort of dry. I wish I knew more about the politics at the time! I only know surface level stuff. I think the more you know the more interesting this book will be. Still reading though! The story IS good.

Y’all ~ I just went to pick up my holds at the library, and my librarians have set up a whole section of gorgeous “date with a book” and “date with a movie.”
I love my librarians. I picked out one that is sci-fi and the blurb was “honor yourself.”

Wow am I ever living in my own little world here in New England!
Yes I know about Vail. Yes I know about Colorado. Yes I know that Vail is a fancy ski town.
I had NO IDEA HOW FANCY!
Heated roads?! That’s a thing?
I need to travel.

Arctic cold front is walloping New England. I HAVE a cold. I am on the couch, tucked into my Snugie thing, have a pot of tea, homemade cookies, and I am comfort reading.
Don’t judge me.

How is it that everyone in the world is reading Agatha Raisin mysteries right now? Seriously.
I went to Libby to get Agatha Raisin and the Case of the Curious Curate and it told me the wait time was EIGHTEEN WEEKS. One person has it out and there are EIGHT PEOPLE WAITING. The book was published in the Year of our Lord 2003.

I am listening to this right now. My January has been horrible so far (have I mentioned that?) and one of the things that has kept me calm is listening to Agatha Raisin books.
I now love Agatha Raisin and the woman who reads these books.

Okay. So. My January is off to a terrible start and I have to admit that my attention span is zero. I know that my fellow GR companions have been rating this book at about a 3.5 and it has mixed reviews. I am going to give it a try! No promises though.

I am wondering if this story will tell me (Constant Reader) again that,”sometimes dead is better.”
I remember Jud saying that when I read Pet Sematary for the first time. I was 17.
I read it then but did not understand it until I was 24 and my mom had been infested with Aspergillus fungus a few years after her heart transplant.
I wonder if 75 year old Stephen still believes it to be true. I do.

“It turns like the carousel in the novel.”
I just read “Something Wicked This Way Comes(!)” and I got the chills as soon as I read that line!
The very cool thing about reading as many books as you can is the magic of references. Just a few words placed in a new book can conjure a million words (and all the feelings) of an entire story
