I am going to have a massive book hangover when I finish this series ☹️

I knew going into this to not read this like a romance or *for* the romance, but I will say that the little bits of romance Sherry Thomas puts into the book are worth the patience. But this is not a surprise, ST is a master at what she does.

This is so beautiful:

I love the relationship between the two sisters in this book.

Really great prologue setting up the entire series but there were SO many characters to keep track of. Do not recommend listening on audio for this 🥴

I read my first Caroline Linden a while back and DNF’ed it because I found it sleepy and boring, which is why I put off giving her another chance for so long. Turns out she just gets better with each book. She is a really superb storyteller.

Alright, I’m going in. I honestly have no idea what to expect despite knowing what the book is about.

I think all HR heroes named Sebastian are meant to be super hot? 🥲

I like that the heroine in this is proper horny 🥲

Still early days yet, so I can’t 100% declare with confidence that this is enemies to lovers, but the couple is so far doing enemies quite well.

All the side characters in this book are supremely annoying 😔

Breezing through this book so fast. The mains are so compelling!

This is one of JAL’s earlier works so it’s not something she does anymore — give the villain a backstory and a POV — but it is SUCH a good backstory.
