I’ve held off on reading this book for so long bc the cover is so beautiful and I’ve read one of the opening paragraphs describing the heroine and …. what is the book doesn’t match my very high expectations?!

Happy sigh 😍 Not enough femdom books out there.

I love that the Bedwyns make a cameo in this in a big way. They banter so well together.

I really think Ali Hazelwood's editor should've tried a little harder to ask her to make the characters in this audio series just a WEE bit more distinct from each other. /grumbles

This book has two of my least favorite archetypes: the cop and the aspiring musician. But JAL is godlike with character work and her heroes are always so silent and hot 😩

This is really not a series you can dip in and out of 😅

I’m either gonna finish this book and say, “This didn’t age very well 😔” OR, “Julie James was def ahead of her time.” The hero is currently railing about reverse discrimination and political correctness and it’s his best friend who’s telling him to chill out about being the oppressed white man ☹️

Been a minute since I read Julie James; she’s so good.

As I begin this book, I’m struck by how much more interesting Lisa Kleypas’ heroes used to be. More nuanced and layered than the fairly standard rake/rich guys that she’s written in the last decade. Gotta sit on this.

This is my favorite “heroine needs hero to make baby” book. Sigh 🥺

Welp, the author introduced a conflict at the 96% mark that I don’t know that the couple can overcome! I’ll obviously finish, but I feel there is no HEA viable for this couple 🤷🏻‍♀️

Welp, making progress two months after I started. I picked this back up and realized I stopped in the middle of a sex scene, which all about tells you what you need to know? 🥴 I can’t explain it — not bad enough to DNF, but certainly very easy to stop reading.

Liking this a lot better than the first in the series, and actually would’ve liked if this was a full length book instead of a novella.

You know what I like about Cate C Wells’ heroines? They’re SCRAPPY.

1. The narrator’s Nordic accent definitely just sounds like an American one. I’m very biased against American actors when it comes to accent work and am super picky. 2. Ali Hazelwood’s sense of humor is a hit or miss for me, but I’m finding this audiobook very funny. 3. Ughhhhhh I can’t wait until she stops writing Adam Driver stand-in MMCs.

I like this book a lot so far.

I think I’ve outgrown Elizabeth O’Roark now, but she wrote some of my fave CRs when I first started reading romance, so I’ll always be nostalgic.

As I say about 95% of books I read in this genre: this book is too long.

There's a throwaway line from the protagonist of this book about how a 5-figure sum of money isn't a lot to the likes of her rich stepmother "and to most Brooklynites" and I am BAFFLED. Five-figures worth of money is a lot to most people in Brooklyn and I'm seriously wondering where she gets this impression?!!!!???

Spoilers ahead: I think it’s hilarious when authors write about nepotism but are not intellectually honest about it. The FMC is a famous producer’s stepdaughter and wanted to avoid “leaning harder on her stepfather’s last name,” but her last name is recognizable AND her stepdad got her her PA gig. People think nepotism is this big in your face thing but no, it’s series of little advantages that add up.

Damn, really should’ve read some TWs for this before starting 😒
