It’s been so slow going with me and this book — I’ve been slumping so hard lately 😒

This is SO good it makes me wanna weep.

I really love the hero — he’s so fucking grouchy.

JAL totally bowls me over with her writing, all the time. I feel lucky to be able to read her.

This book is very slow 🥴 Even Nicholas Boulton narration isn’t helping.

Well, this is weird, but this book should be hot — in theory. But I’m so detached and almost bored by all of it? I think it’s because there’s literally no build up and it FEELS like a truncated story meant for a novella. So it’s not really doing anything for me at all so far 🥴

My kryptonite in this genre is a well-placed, “I missed you.” 🥺🥺🥺

This book is soooooooo beautiful and lush.

Julie James always writes a great hero and heroine but the thing I appreciate about her heroes is that they’re clearly alpha archetypes, but never douchey or aggressive at all. Just highly competent people who know their stuff.

Excellent prologue. I immediately like both these leads infinitely better than all the manic pixie dream girls AND boys that EH loves to write.

I basically read Flowers from the Storm and was so destroyed I couldn’t bear to pick up another Laura Kinsale until now. I got so many of her books on audio through Audible’s recent sale so I figure listening to a book will make things less painful 😬 we’ll see.
