I’m just not so sure I buy that a sitting state senator would have this much of the hots for a college SOPHOMORE after she asks one fairly run of the mill question at a presser.

It annoys me so much that this is a nearly 30 year old man chasing after a college student. This story could’ve still worked if both characters were a decade older 😕 this fetishization of adult/student affairs is gross.

Yeah, I dunno. This triangle is getting a bit ridiculous. It's just very over the top and melodramatic in a way that isn't working for me.

The pointless push and pull is driving me crazy. I wish Danni would just stand her ground for once, jaysus.

I simultaneously like this book a lot so far, and also am really cranky about a lot of other elements. At the 52% mark right now I feel a lot of the characters have a lot of ingrained sexism.

Addy’s animal rights stuff is really grating 😬

I do like when characters say they’ll do a thing and then does it. Nothing irks me more than when a heroine makes up her mind to keep her distance and remain stoic and then ... doesn’t. So good for Addy for doing that right now. Just hope that she sticks to it.

This is certainly a lot more porn-y than JEA’s other books, ain’t it? 🧐

Oh yes—one other thing. I hate it when authors constantly point out the ethnicity of non-white characters. It’s unnecessary. JEA is doing it a lot in this book.

I don’t like overly talky characters, who reveal too many of the cards too early on. Which is what Addy is doing. Ergo, she is annoying me.

Rachel is a coward -_-

It’s starting to be really hard for me to have sympathy for Rachel. I’m sick of her “I don’t know my own feelings” shit, and the fact that through the flashbacks, it’s apparent that she knows and is aware of Rhys’ shortcomings at the age of 21, and yet somehow stays together with him for another DECADE. Ugh.

I’m wishing there were more scenes with present day Ben and Rachel. I also wish this book wasn’t so heavy handed with the Bridget Jones-y “I’m such a mess and don’t have my shit together but she [competitor] is so elegant and put together” trope.

This is really well written.
