I truly love Emma Scott but her heroines continue to be blandly stereotypical, always existing in support of the heroes.

Reattempting this. Couldn’t really get into it the first time around.

I generally don’t like reading stories about journalists because I’m a former journalist and most writers get it wrong. But off the bat, it’s never explained why Summer is interviewing the Pierces, so I don’t understand the hook. Secondly, there’s no way she would go visit this family and stay for a week and not know that one of the brothers is a freaking mayor.

This book is truly a bummer. It’s so bad.

Honestly, if not for the fact that this is a romance novel, Ronan’s behavior can 100% be read as inappropriate.

Ah yes, another heroine who is clearly written as incredibly pretty, but self deprecates a ton and thinks they’re a weird, loserly creature.

I accept that this is not the most ... progressive book on gender dynamics, but the thing that drives me crazy a lot is that Tate never fucking let’s Lauren talk! He’s always talking over her 🤨

Why is this book 676 pages 🥴

My least favorite thing is when a heroine vows to separate from the hero and then immediately reneges on this self-promise because she has sex with him and she hangs on to this false promise of a relationship, even though the sex alone is not what she wants. Ugh.

The description of outfits in this book...they all sound incredibly hideous and unfashionable lol

Honestly, it’s a little difficult to keep up with what happened between Billy and Scarlet in the years they were separated through the recounting of those events in conversation in the present day @_@

I meant to just read like 10 pages or so and doze off before bed, but here I am, 200 pages later...

When I first dipped my toes into this series I took for granted that it’d be lighthearted—poignant, but still mostly in the “easy reading” category—and boy did I get disavowed of that notion pretty quick. Scared I’ll be gutted by this book!

I’ve read 300 pages of this book already and things are still progressing at snail’s pace.

I’m so bored and this is way too long. This is shocking to me, for a Lily White book.

This is a really conventional story so far and I keep waiting for it to ... evolve past that because Lily White doesn’t write conventional stories.

A whole book on getting to the marriage part of the relationship! Crazy. I am super duper glad this is dual POV and is a bit racier than the first.

I’m liking this book a lot, but two things that don’t work for me: 1) Single POV. Sigh, I will never ever prefer this in the romance genre. I’ve yet to read a single solo POV book that I didn’t think could’ve been improved with dual POVs. 2) Since this is an early Penny Reid book I’ll forgive her, but I think the “Who me? You have a crush on little ole me?” thing is passé now.
