Somewhat reminded me of my childhood in China.but this is for sure extreme China, considered even by Chinese standard. In his beginning years fighting off the Chinese/commie influence, somehow I felt like being rebrainwashed, undone my own resistance through the years! Did he somewhat show too much sympathy?

Probably more than a third way through. Not sure if the analysis was considered thorough or authorative, at least there was no shortage of case studies or keen observations, or news clips pertinent to main thesis.

Too much of the book was dedicated to the description of her various disguise, and now icantrecall the name of critic herself! Love the rest of it though. I can't say she was the most keen observer on character, there goes my critic for the writing.

Endearing & funny. I still can't believe the Venice law about receipt...see chapter on the fine instance at the most delicious bakery.

Half way through! Such a delightful read, enjoy every bit of Mike's venture across Atlantic & into the haughty world of Birkins. Excited 2 find out his next move, romance is in the air, but there is a foreshadow of a potentially heart broken story. Isn't every good story finish that way?....Michael made appearance on Bravos Fashion Hunt, as an authenticating expert at a Birkins swap party.

Four chapters in. Very light reading. Love the writing style. One of those modernized edition of an underling making over fairy tales.

A good history/culture study of post-war Japan. Not sure what to expect in the end, also a bit unclear about the message. What is so wrong (Monster) about Japanese society in comparison to many other modern societies? Maybe the social issues all got widely exposed due to the heavily disseminated cultural commodities.

Just finished Kindle's free sample. Love this book, on my next to get list!
