Phil Wickham recommended this and it's pretty good! About what I expected but good.

This is a good example of what can happen when the exact right book finds you at the exact right time.

Just finished Book One! Still really enjoying this but remembering why I don't like long books. All that said, I read a good chunk though on a plane next to a girl who was hacking up a lung so if I die in a couple days, y'all will know the end is already coming.

My heart is already shattered and I could not love this more from the get go.

I just saw that, yet again, a report came out caking Norway the happiest country on Earth. So this is a relevant read. A bit dry at times but I'm excited to be getting back in touch with my Norwegian roots.

Obviously just started but I have some initial thoughts. This feels a little *too* researched but I really liked the opening.

The texturing of this is really beautiful

I definitely have mixed feelings about this so far. King is king of prose and I always love his writing. Most of the time I'm really intrigued and compelled by this, but not always. There's a lot of characters and a lot of build up. No way I'm backing down though.

Backman is reverting to his familiar formula in A Man Called Ove . But other than that, this is a really charming book. And familiar isn't always a bad thing.

I was saving this for my plane ride home next weekend but after that train wreck, I deserve this.

Again, I much prefer the stories about Ryan's life to the story of his opera career but it's still an interesting read. Don't *love* the audiobook format but I do like the narrator.

I. Hate. Every. Single. Freaking. Person. In. This. Book. All of them.

The novel has two plot lines - Evan's and Julia's. Julia's is so pretentious and privileged as hell. Evan's is super compelling. Only reason I haven't DNF'd is because I'm trying to read all books by this publisher. Ughhhhh

I'm getting more used to the audiobook format but I still don't think I love it. As for the book itself, I don't care much for older Ryan's story, but his childhood is captivating and heart wrenching.

This isn't the sort of story I normally read so I'm not super into it but it is good.

I have never been so torn so far into a book. This is wonderful and awful and I'm captured and bored. will definitely be finishing this (maybe even tonight?)

I'll admit - I had low expectations going into this. It's my first "real" audiobook and I'm not sure how I feel about the experience. This book also didn't pique my interest. But I'm actually really enjoying this operatic drama! I'm interested in where all it can go though...

Mainly skimming this for my urban studies class but it's really interesting! I'm not confident it's 100% sound science (even for an ethnography) but it's still quite engaging!

This seems like it's about to pick up, which is good, because there's only so much I can read about a young person's European getaway.
