Finding God's Life for My Will: His Presence Is the Plan
Chapter 5 (I don’t want to use page numbers since I have an uncorrected proof): I’m struck at the continual revelation that the best kinds of churches are the ones that take places on couches and conversations unplanned. It’s something I’ve come to realize in my own journey, something RHE preached in her books, and something Mike reveals here as well. I’m glad the Spirit is moving in this way.

“There comes a time for each of us when we realize the truth about the enemy. Which is that he is not an idea, or some faceless demon. He is a man. And every man is much like ourselves.”

Recommended to me by my friend Tara. Wasn't anticipating liking this very much (do we really need another political memoir?) but surprisingly loving every single second listening to it. Excited to see what else she discusses!

The only words I can think to use to describe reading this is the eye roll emoji

This is painfully slow. This is the last book for my African American lit class and I was really looking forward to it. If I wasn't reading it for class, I'd definitely DNF.

I know that this is based on a true story but I can’t decide whether Morris, in the way it’s written, romanticizes the holocaust too much or testifies to the power of hope and love in, truly, the darkest of places.

Comparing this to The Handmaid’s Tale is a grave injustice to Zumas.

Finished part four. I love Clay and Matthew’s narration is a really interesting choice that works most of the time. I also love the alternating timelines

Just finished part 2. This is utterly delightful, immersive, and engaging. It’s giving me Grapes of Wrath vibes, something from Fredrick Backman, and of course some signature Zusak power.

Finally had time to sit down with this. Just finished part one and it’s well worth the wait.

Just got to part two. The first part, while beautifully written, was a bit uninteresting and dull. But after a bit of a twist and reveal, I’m excited to see what happens.

My sincere apologies to the publisher for taking so long to get to this. I’ve been in the worst reading slump but I swear I’ll get through it ASAP
