It’s something I’ve come to realize in my own journey, something RHE preached in her books, and something Mike reveals here as well. I’m glad the Spirit is moving in this way.

This is painfully slow. This is the last book for my African American lit class and I was really looking forward to it. If I wasn't reading it for class, I'd definitely DNF.

I know that this is based on a true story but I can’t decide whether Morris, in the way it’s written, romanticizes the holocaust too much or testifies to the power of hope and love in, truly, the darkest of places.

Comparing this to The Handmaid’s Tale is a grave injustice to Zumas.

Just finished part 2. This is utterly delightful, immersive, and engaging. It’s giving me Grapes of Wrath vibes, something from Fredrick Backman, and of course some signature Zusak power.

Finally had time to sit down with this. Just finished part one and it’s well worth the wait.
