Slowly and steadily into book two. The writing is still rich and delicious so I I don’t want to miss a thing. New characters (and old), new suspicions, new plottings, and just as nuts as the last instalment!

That’s the first book done! 😮‍💨 Onto the next one now, where Titus Groan, the Seventy Seventh Earl of Gormenghast is now 7 years old. I’m so intrigued to see what he is like as a character in the story, he was a baby throughout the first book, reaching his first birthday and becoming The Earl shortly after. If he’s anything like the rest of the ‘cast’ he’s going to odd!! 😆🏰

Not getting the opportunity to read much this week! 😣 I am so absorbed by Gormenghast when I do pick it up though!

Things are starting to fall into place plot-wise. Every character is brilliantly bizarre! Gormenghast is the ultimate gothic castle, there’s literally miles of it!

“For answer Mr Flay shot his head forward out of his collar and croaked ‘Silence! you kitchen thing. Hold your tongue you greasy fork. Talk too much’.”

‘Kitchen thing’ and ‘greasy fork’ really made me laugh! This is so peculiar, I’m not yet sure what I’m even reading 😂

This is a real page turner! I would like to carry on but my eyelids are drooping 🫩
