A little iffy so far.. :-/ ...Im really not a fan of Maas' use of exclamation marks in this novel.. it's so very distracting and completely changes the tone of my inner voice when reading their "!" words. It ends up having the opposite effect really. And so far the characters are really ungrounded and flip flop a lot.. guess we'll see soon enough though if that changes/stabilizes.

This one is far better than the first.. still somewhat annoying and still suffers from many of the same shortcomings as the first novel, but the plot is at least more interesting. Katy and Daemon are still just as frustrating--this whole series will be better off once they finally just quit the childishness and COMMUNICATE. Get together already. uh.

I don't recall where i was in this novel back in 2013.. or why so many of my books were suddenly marked as read earlier in January of 2017, but I do recall that this one wasn't finished... Might have to restart from the beginning.. :-/

Reader is on page 206 of 470 of The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #3)

..not really enjoying this one all that much... it feels like it's taking forever to get anywhere or bring anything new. I find it's really a shame too how emotionally flat it all feels.. Where Mara was almost nervewreckingly complex and emotional and distressed before, now she seems to mostly avoid any complex emotion. Almost halfway through the book and where are we really?

This one is reading more like a semi-horror story than the previous thriller/emotionally-charged novel. So far, it's intentionally flat emotionally, and fairly bloody/gruesome. Not much intrigue either... so i'm really hoping things change soon, because the intrigue and emotionally-charged aspects of the previous book was what i was most looking forward to.
