:( I knew it was coming. I'm still not happy about it.

Strong start! Only one chapter in and I already have a strong feel for the world and the characters have grabbed me.

I've got to pick up my reading speed somehow or this is going to take the next month to finish. XD

On one hand, I'm enjoying this. On the other hand, I flipped to the end and I know someone dies that I was hoping wouldn't die and I'm a little bit mad about it, which is making me not enjoy the chapters that this individual is in because they're going to go down at some point and I don't want to read that.. :P

Weapons growing out of one's arm seem to be rather problematic in this world.

The page count here on Goodreads is inaccurate. The hardcover of this book has 350-ish pages, not 432. But anyway, I still finished it last night even if I had to stay up till 1am to do it. :P RTC!

Is anyone's mother in this story NOT a [spoiler]??? (I do wish that they would let us do spoiler code in reading updates. Since I can't, this is one of those "If you know, you know" kind of things. :P)

Just a PSA that my short story's publication in the "Fantastic Schools Vol. 6" anthology allowed me to upgrade my profile to an author profile. Slightly different name (E.F. Buckles instead of E.F.B.) but still the same me. I'll leave my avatar alone for awhile to help ease the transition, but just wanted y'all to know it's still me. :)

Jodi Benson, voice of The Little Mermaid, is currently voicing Nia, the mother of the Igiby kids in the Wingfeather Saga TV show. I hadn't really thought much about Jodi the person before this but I liked her when she was talking about the show and wanted to know more. Oh my word, only 16% in and I love her! Her gentle, kind heart is shining through and I'm inspired already. <3

Darius has issues. Well, a lot of people in this series have issues, but Darius has... extra issues. :p
