hahah whenever they get too moony something always happens. bandits, this time. Halla's groaning about how it's BANDITS now and super offended by it. It's like getting hit with the traveling shovel from NaNoWriMo, with all these things beat by beat.

I'm glad that he likes Halla so much, but. Like. Can we move on.

I loved the little glassy predator brain sucker glass sheet things. Kingfisher is really great at horror and at comedy.

I'm still out on the lusty romance, though.

A Kingfisher I'm not enormously fond of?! Then again I wasn't big into the paladin series either. I think maybe I care less for the explicity pining and sex jokes. I mean, they're fine, but it doesn't do that much for me personally so I get bored when they joke about sword sizes for fifteen minutes.

I actually really hope that’s the end of it. A little anticlimactic, a little uncertain. Like life, sometimes things halt silently, without fuss.

staggering through. i like the audiobook, a lot, and yet i feel like i'm moving so slowwwwwlyyyy through it. I wonder if i should get the book book, even if I really do love the narrator.

He said Hamra's right before she announced her name to the forest, and then he acted like no one should ever breathe their true names in the jungle when he Literally just had, two paragraphs earlier. The double question mark, and then the confusion on if it's mousedeer one word or mouse deer two words...small things, but they add up.

Maybe it's just because I can't stand Huckleberry Finn at the best of times, but like. So what? I didn't really want a POV swap fanfic of a book I've never enjoyed. I imagine it must do something interesting in the second half? Or is it just because people have read Finn and they're familiar with the concept.
