Fantastic book, though with so many POVs it is a miracle Tad holds it altogether.

Katharine Kerr writes such good tension and atmosphere, her books have am ethereal, dreamlike quality that is very unique. Dawnspell is another excellent installment in a series sure to become a favourite.

I have finished the first section of this novel, and I have to say I am blown away. Sure, I miss the painterly, leisurely prose and pacing of MST, which felt at times like a work of two hundred years past, not the 1980s. But this new series feels closer to modern fantasy and I think the new flavour really helps to set it apart. So far, fantastic. I am always excited to return to Osten Ard, and I am so glad Tad is too

I love this more and more with every turning of the page

More addictive than sugar

I grew up with Memory Sorrow And Thorn. It has been my all time favourite series, with only two rivals, for all that time. So it was really difficult to have continued collecting all the Last King Of Osten Ard hardcovers as they came out, but not read them. I decided to save my reading of this series for when Tad completed it, and I am actually so happy. I can now read the Osten Ard saga start to finish! Strong start

This is such a rich and fascinating continuation of Memory, Sorrow And Thorn. I won't lie, all the new POVs still came as a bit of a jarring shock after spending so much time in the previous trilogy, but it doesn't take long to enjoy the new characters.


Superb, I am enjoying this so much more on reread.

This is the final time I reread a single novel of Osten Ard. After this, everything will be a first time read!

I really tried to finish this today but I am so tired! Phenomenal.
