I'm getting warm, old fashioned fantasy vibes with a modern edge. So glad to be back in Osten Ard!

I can't stop thinking about this book. Bart is helpless, hopeless, and self-destructive. If I could insert myself into the book and reach out to him, to try and help him, I would, but it's clear he's likely too far gone. There is a sadness observing the doings of this man. His internal train of thought is so sad, this is a man who has so much but he can't see it. Won't see it. Oh dear.

I genuinely didn't like this book to start, thought I might DNF it and move along. Instead, I persevered and now I'm feeling emotionally connected to the saddest, most pained man I have read in a while.

Mental health is real. Look after it. This book is darkly relatable. We all have destructive tendencies, this book makes me want to never give in to them.

Not a fun read, but it is a fine read. It's very psychological and I feel a connection to the main character, who appears to have lost his mind to depression, and on the verge of making choices he can never run away from. It's like a ticking time bomb, something hideous I can't turn my eyes away from. At first I didn't like this book, but it is growing on me with every chapter.

If there is any justice in this world, this series will become huge. Ken Follett fans, especially those of how WW2 thrillers, CHECK J.C. JARVIS OUT!! I'm now very interested in collecting this series in hardcover.

Aldeauge is spectacular.

Yeah there is a lot about this series that is far fetched. Go into this expecting adventure, some education, and fast pacing. I am LOVING this series!

This book sees the series emerging as a bit of a Bourne/Bond/Indiana Jones hybrid, and I am all for it

Shaping up to be one of the best surprises of the year! My first self published work of historical fiction, this is *so good*.

This is an addictive, spirited pre-WW2 drama that is full of adventure and tension. I'm not saying this is a literary masterpiece, but if you have any interest in the time period and are interested in historical fiction, then I recommend this!

This is excellent historical fiction. It has the feel of Ken Follett and Herman Wouk, but faster paced. Light prose, excellent characters and a fine attention to detail, this is really good.

The dialogue isn't subtle, it feels a little OTT in all honesty, with English characters talking as if they already know everything happening in pre-WW2 Germany in detail. We had loose facts and information, but I digress. It's a good novel so far, with a lot of heart.
