Okay so now I think I am in love with this story. The brilliance of it is not so kuch the plot, its the interactions between the boys and their dialogue. King truly understands how to capture the feeling of being young, and perhaps no one has ever surpassed him for how he writes coming of age.

I also love the stories within the story. It feels like King opening up about himself, which he likely is in his way.

I am 339 pages in, and only just made it to 20%. And yet not one page feels like a waste! I am loving this book so far, in fact I am enjoying it even more than Of War And Ruin.

This is longer than Carrie. This is NOT a novella, it is a NOVEL! And a damn fine one at that!

Highly recommended. It lacks any sense of supernatural but remains utterly chilling. I hope this one sticks the landing. This should be revered as a King classic, but I rarely ever see anyone talk about it.

Sometimes books we dismiss as "kids books" end up falling into memory only territory. You reread a book you loved as a kid, only to find it isn't actually as good as you remembered.
