This book is so boring and full of so much unnecessary filler that I might either skip/skim through pages or I might just dnf it after a few chapters. Life's too short to read bad books (bad books that aren't even fun).

I'm so bored right now. I expected a straightforward guide or something, instead I got a story about generic characters on their journey to better their life. I'm not that far into it but I think it would have been better to take all of the fictional elements out and just make it a short and traditional self help book because this book doesn't know when to get to the point, it's full of unnecessary filler!

It's finally getting interesting! We actually have a plot now! Took her long enough. Thank God I didn't buy this book.
Hopefully the remaining 10 hours of this audiobook will be entertaining.
I loved Daughter of Smoke & Bone, and Strange the Dreamer and the writing was great in those books. But the writing in this book is too purple, (that could also be because Akiva and Karou are boring as a couple).

Apparently Thomas' father arranged a marriage between him and some girl without his permission... Seriously? I love romance novels but when did this become a romance novel. This is one trop I really hate. Couldn't we have had this book without this annoying subplot, just let them get married already! *annoyed face*

I was expecting and hoping for a cute love-hate romance, which it kind of is but it feels like a book that was released in 2020, as in there's wokeness😑😒 And white guilt. Can't there be a post 2018 book with no wokeness? I'm a brown girl and I'm so tired of this in American media, just stop!

I feel like I've been mislead by everyone who has read this book. I was expecting a great gay love story with time travel, instead I got a bland love story with annoying 2D characters and some time travel. There's even a character who says, "love the instinctual mistrust of cis white men." Wtf?! This is not twitter, people don't talk like this in real life! I'm a straight brown woman and even I'm insulted by this.
