My favorite things about these books and about Maas as an author is that she never forgets even a single character. Characters we haven't seen since book two, characters that were only fleshed out in novelas or half-mentioned are all equally important to the story

Both Aelin and Chaol are being incredibly unfair towards each other in this argument and it's infuriating!

I think it's partially that I just love these guys and feel like I know them but also that I'm reading this with their voices in my head so I'm laughing so much!

I feel bad because I feel like this book is trying a little too hard to make fun of all the fantasy tropes. It's become a little less enjoyable but I'm turned completely off yet.

I saw this betrayal coming unfortunately. Of all the characters, I thought them the most likely. However, I was blindsided by this revelation about the bard

I love that this chapter cuts off mid sentence, like the letters are actually missing. Even though I've been reading Tea's words as thought they're the current timeline, the book was framed as though she was telling the tale in the "future" timeline. I'll have to change my thought process now

I can't imagine how this is going to end with so few chapters left in the final book. Like I really expected the different timelines to finally catch up to each other but I guess that's not going to happen?? Am I even going to find out why she was banished? I'm not sure I like this decision to keep the two timelines going

Althy says here that you simply can't trust Tea because she has taken in too much if the dark and its affecting her judgement. I thought the same thing in the last book and while I still agree I also think Tea is in the right now. It's simply a race to see if she can accomplish her justified goal before she succumbs to the Dark

It's obvious that, for the most part, these people misunderstand the daeva. With the zarich, I know Tea felt another mind readying as if to take control, but commanding it to die seems so harsh. It's good to be cautious but it seems so cruel. It had to intention to hurt anyone and seemed so sad as it died

There have been several times VERY recently where its suggested that Likh has feelings for Khalad and I'm confused??? Like where did this come from all of a sudden? I feel like there was no hint of this at all before bam! He's all flustered

I don't know how I feel about this. One if the flowers was a warning for traitors... but the other signified that she would be merciless 😭 and wow was it ever. I'm not sure I like the direction she seems to be going

This book is already way more interesting than the first one! There's a lot more action and the unanswered questions have so much more depth. I was hoping this would be the case since the first book was nothing but set-up
