So far, I'm loving this a lot?

Done with Túrin's story (imagine if this were written by GRRM, oh boy) and on to the ruin of Doriath.

I'm so glad nobody has ever made an adaptation of this book.

...mhm Idk what it is about this one, but so far I'm not getting into it the same way I did with BR and PWMOV. I'm not sure if it's the general pacing or the fact that I don't really get the 'stakes' of the relationship?

This is turning out to be a real struggle for me to get through, which I didn't expect. Some very important + insightful observations, but also lots of stuff that I found questionable or absolutely did not agree with *at all*. Extremely heteronomrative, and several arguments are clearly made from a position of class privilege without acknowledging it (didn't she write Class Matters around the same time tho? Huh).

Tempted to give this 5 stars for the phrase "Hemingway circle-jerk fanfiction" alone tbh. And damn those messy-haired literary types.
