It's eerie how accurate some observers can be. Mr. Cotton approaches his Indian subjects with the tools of scientific precision - arguing correctly both that i) the cause of indian nationalism was the establishment of British colonial institutions itself and that ii) the elites of India could not be relied upon for an assessment of the native situation. Politics could still benefit from such revelations.
