Holy shit, this is good. I was just telling the hubster how hard it is these days to find a truly unique story. There always seem to be traces - some smaller or larger than others - from earlier movies, shows or books, which is understandable as they help feed our own imagination. This, however, with its slow but enticing build, is out-of-the-box, intriguing and edge-of-your-seat good. Req it @ NetGalley now!

The end. Missing the "and they lived happily ever after" I'd hoped we get.

It was great finally learning Alex and Eve's story, which I expected to be rough but, wow, it's heartbreaking. This was one of my favorites in the series - lots of emotion, suspense, and scenes with other members of the gang. I'm so anxious to learn more about the gang's new "puppy" and more about Ian's story.

Freaking men. It didn't matter what the problem was, they saw only three solutions to it: food, sex, war.

"You're always blaming me for your inability to sleep just because I introduced you to a few departed people when we were kids. If I'd known that describing their head wounds as they stood over your bed at night would be so traumatic, I wouldn't have done it."

It was weird how every time I said the word 'captain', I wanted to tack on a 'Jack Sparrow' at the end. (As always, Charley's crackin' me up.)

While much of the book felt like a recap, I needed it. I read book #11 in 2011, so some of what others did not like was quite helpful to me. Especially since the characters on the show, True Blood, vary so much from those in the books. I'm going to start Dead Ever After straight away and say farewell to Sookie and the Bon Temps clan.

I have to say, so far, this has been one of the oddest reads. The first 1/4 is full of contradictions, insanely long run-on sentences and one bizarre metaphor after another. Sometimes, a light is just a light.
