I think this has been the only HG Wells book I haven't read. Fixing that problem right now.

This book really does play fast and loose with its lore. This late in the book and the definition of various supernatural elements of the world are still quite fuzzy.

This is finally beginning to hook me a little bit with the relationship between the two characters. Sad to see it come so late in the book though. There's only 60 pages left.

So the weird red neck family in the woods turns out to be crazy people.Saw that one a mile away. Has to be one of the most over used tropes.

U know this book is starting out with murder, a kidnapping and a supernatural !mystery. But for some reason I can't to make much progress bc it's kinda making sleepy. I can't put my fine on why. The book isn't boring. But there's something about it.

So Thor is not going to even try to save the world bc he has to catch up on Game of Thrones. That's kinda hilarious.

And now the sword talks. Strange and a bit silly but at this point, why not? Let the imagination run wild. As long as it's fun, I'm on board until the end.

Taylor Swift as part goddess? Yeah. I don't approve. She's not that great of a singer, must less a goddess.

P.S. Sorry Swift fans. I never liked her music.

So In this book it's silly to the characters for a pen to turn into a sword. Pretty deep in joke. Only Percy Jackson fans will probably get that one.

Samir is a Muslim girl trying to abide by her family's traditions while also being half Norse god. Now that's kinda insane clash of cultures. But it gives the character a lot of depth I didn't expect. Good job book!

Oh hey it's Mimir! I remember that guy! He was my favorite character in God of War. I hope this Mimir is just as likable.

I know this is silly. But it's fun. & who doesn't like fun?

Wow! That must have been some monstrous squirrel. Everybody was terrified from the thing & had to run for their lives. Lol. Too bad the book didn't show it. Maybe it'll make an reappearance later on and they'll show this beast.

I forgot how fun Riordan's books are. I dropped off of his stuff years ago bc I found The Kane Chronicles a little too silly. But this is really good and now I feel silly for not continuing to read his other stuff.

Really loved Percy Jackson so I've been meaning to read this for a while. Finally digging into it. Seems charming so far.

The 1st story is the retelling of John Carpenter's The Thing from the aliens point of view. Interesting concept but I have seen that movie too many times to count and this new POV is offering nothing new. It actually feels like dull fan fiction more than anything else.

Most of the stories in this fall into the interesting and okay range. But this story Ghost Girl Takes Manhattan is pretty phenomenal. I loved it. It's most definitely a highlight of this collection for me.

Every time Croyd shows up now it really does bring the bring tone down a notch. His life is so sad and tragic, I just feel sorry for him everything he shows up.

The reveal of the puppeteer really took me by surprise. I did not see that coming.
