Every time I begin to love this book, a scene will come along where not brain goes, "Wait a minute. That doesn't make any sense in context of continuity or this world in general." I'm beginning to get used to it all by now, but it's still disappointing.

Wow . These two do not really act like the Tom and Hester I remember. I thought Hester was tougher and Tom was smarter. The author could have easily changed the names of the characters and things would made more sense. But complaints aside, the book is still fun. Some choices made so far just really seem to destroy any continuity from the first novel though.

The peaceful paradise cities in Asia that was not part of the mad max Europe world. The last part of the known civilized world that Tom and Hester fought to protect in the first book. Now this book is telling me less than a yr after book one, more max psychos just came back and destroyed it anyways. What the hell book? U are working hard to make that 1st book I love so my much seem worthless. Stop retconning!

I know it's been a while. But it seems like they are retconning some things from the first book. Tom's age seemed to substantially older so he can have a romance with Hester. And the anti traction league hates them now? Weren't they the good guys? Now they are bad? Okay. I'll go with it bc the book is fun so far. But these are either very strange choices or my brain is remembering the 1st book very differently.

Having read the 1st book it seemed like the mobile city thing was just a European thing where they were slowly wiping themselves out, bc Asia was stationary. But now it's revealed that most of this world followed mobile city this craziness. How?The contact had of been wiped out after the apocalyptic war. They didn't exchange notes. Which means They all came up with the same idea independently. That is impossible!

The tale I started on tonight starts with a crooked zoo keeper and big cats. That theme seems to be real popular right now.

As disappointing as this book is in its final act, I would be lying if I said I didn't get a little choked up when these best friends all must go their separate ways. The story may be long winded and inclination but I really love these characters together and they grew so much. At least the book has that. Some great people I cared about that I was willing follow on this pointless journey.

So they found "The Abominable" and I got excited for a moment bc it seemed like there might be a yeti after all. No. Turns it's photos of gay nazis. Seriously this book feels like it was engineered to disappoint. A long winded joke where the author only gets enjoyment out of it. I swear he's purposely trolling the reader. I thought this was ironically funny at 1st. But now with 100 pages left, it's not funny anymore

OMG! This book is hilarious. It's almost like it's intentionally trolling the reader. It teases a yeti for 500 pages and then makes the most ridiculous left turn that it made me laugh. I understand why people hate this book now. Lol. Just imagine watching a super suspenseful well made movie, then when the threat shows up it's a guy in a cheap blow up T-rex costume. The book is like that. It's really fascinating.

I'm in the last third of the book now and there is not yeti like promised. Is this a metaphorical yeti? Do the characters refer to the mountain as a yeti at the end bc it was such a monster to climb? I'm really beginning to wonder.

Feels like a long winded Crichton novel, which is not the worst thing ever. Sure the pacing is slow, but at least it's going somewhere with an interesting setup.

If climbing a mountain royally kicked my butt, like Everest did nearly killing these guys, my first decision after getting out of the hospital would not be immediately try again. I know determination can be powerful, but it's really making these guys make bad decisions.

I get it rock climbing is fun and c!numbers are looking for the next big challenge. But these guys are killing themselves and most likely will die to pull this off. This isn't a challenge anymore or fun even. These guys are on suicide mission. They are just not smarty enough to turn back.

Wolves in business suits board a train to cause chaos. I bit silly? Sure. I'm okay with in though. The world is kinda sucks right now. A silly story does not bother me at all. I'm fake it might be exactly what I need.

Three best friend climb a mountain is interesting but still they are such good friends there's no conflict. Then Reggie comes along and thank God for that. She immediately shakes things up among them. And this book needed a little something like this is my interest.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and the 1920s was a different time. But there's something so wrong about 3 white guys being treated like kings by enslaved natives in British controlled India. Not to mention one of these guy's are complaining about working with a woman. Puts into perspective how much the world changed in 100 yrs.

Who knew that 1920s mountain gear was so fascinating. Amazing people actually survived the climbs with what they were working with back then.

Oh yeah 1924 was right before things went sideways in Germany. That had to of been a scary time for a lot of people who could see what's coming but was too poor to get out.

The story's picking again. Maybe it's not going to be killed by historical rich folks like The Terror was. I was really worried for a while.

I know I'm moving thru this book but it has turned painfully snobby and pompous with it's sudden stereotypical Britishness. Its hard to read. It's not that I don't like the writing style. I just don't care about lords discussing architecture while drinking fine tea. & the fear that these elements will hurt the story like in the Terror. But finally spooky stuff is beginning to happen. So it should be picking up soon.
