Wendig started dropping Stephen King references and it just dawned on me. This isn't just another Wendig novel this is his tribute to Stephen King. That explains why it's a slow and meandering with dull characters.. He's trying to emulate his style. The Stephen King style I never really liked. Now I'm not sure I want to finish. Never been a king fan at all.

Omg. Alex finally gets some sleep. I would have most definitely have just passed out from exhaustion at this point.

As much as I love this, it is now beginning to devolve into the paranormal mystery cliche tale similar to Dresdin Files or Anita bkake. That's not the worst thing by any means, but the book felt so fresh and different for the longest time.

This book is book has a very specific vibe. It's reminding me of Constantine. Could easily take place in the trailblazer world.

This is unrealistic. In college I could nt balance work and college always running on no sleep constantly exhausted. Alex has finals, a full plate of classes, a job keeping ghosts at bay, and solving a murder. No way a college student can do so much. Trust me. I've been there. It's not possible to do so much running on nothing.

This book has me sucked in completely now!

So a college girl was out under the illusion that she was a tiger. She never stopped believing it and now her family keeps her in a cage. I know this is supposed to show the risks of going to this college party. But all I can think about is that Jim Carrey Living Color sketch where he was hypnotized to be a chicken and when the hypnotist does he can do nothing but cluck and act like a chicken the rest of his life.

I seem to really enjoy dark fantasies with lead characters who are absolute trainwrecks.

Interesting in concept, but the slow burn is beginning to get to me. This is no where near as good as Wendig's Heartland trilogy. And with the fact that this is 800 pages long I feel I might struggle finish this bc it's only okay at best.

I'm realizing for every 2 pages I read, the ebook only counts one. This book may be much longer than I originally thought.

Well the little detour about the illness and death of Jerry Garland was super depressing. I hope it returns to the more enjoyable stuff soon.
