This is beginning to remind me of the film Bright. But this is pushing the concept into something interesting with a lot of imagination.

A detective tale set in a city full of fairy tales and monsters. I know its cliche but I still like better that book of m.

So I have this stupidity meter when read thrillers and horror. When something too random & cartoony out of the blue happens, I'm kinda done. U have escalate to something crazy to have it make sense. But here its a book about a weird puedo supernatural epidemic and suddenly without reason the statue of liberty comes alive to destroy the city. I'm done. I can't take this seriously now that it is Looney Tune.

This might sound silly, but for some reason l thought this was a Justin Crown book. And I continued to believe that for the longest time bc the style is so similar. It didn't dawn on me until today it's from an author i never hard of before.

I thought this was years happening after the apocalypse. But it turns out ihis is only 4 weeks since the first person forgot his name. Holy crap! The world really fell apart fast.

Really original so far. Looking forward to seeing what the author will do with this concept.

The short thumbprint is just a real downer of a story, isn't it?

Anyone remember a how in The Wastelands Stephen King wrote about a sentient train that talked like John Wayne and enjoyed riddles? This book has sentient trains too but unlike King the author made it work. I'm loving this as the Kings John Wayne train was killing me with stupidity. I guess it's not the idea but how the author approaches it that makes it enjoyale.

After being disappointed by predator 's gold, I thought that this author might be a one hit wonder with mortal engines being his only masterpiece. But this book proves me wrong. It's so darn fun and is on par with mortal engines!

I've been reading a lot of sci-fi fantasy books that have great action scenes on trains. It's like this book saw that trend and said let's do better try to make the most exciting action train book possible.

A heist mixed with the themes of the Prince and the pauper in an insane sci-fi setting similar to much of Ian McDonald's world building. I'm really enjoying this.

Second book in a year where it's a far flung futuristic world and in the world white people are so rare they are like unicorns. Is this a new scifi trend? I mean art is art. Nothing's wrong with it. Just seems weird and redundant, the point has to be made so bluntly when diversity is already through the roof in the novel, that it's assumed all the races probably intermingled into something new by this point.

Kgates? Really? I know a stargate when I see one. But I guess they have to change it a little bit bc of copyright issues. But it's really fun so far with fantastical planet hopping and world being.

Since the beginning of this series I feel the author has been making up the backstory as he goes. Never never and the council's were throw away lines. Harry's past was non existent. It wasn't until book four he started explaining things. And now so far into the series it seems strange the reader is still learning about Harry's childhood and all the fantasy laws. But somehow this messy method works.

Suspected, and was right, about who the killer is chapters ago. But that's fine. These books are about the journey, not the destination.

In the middle of a great action scene and am really tired. Better call it a night before I fall asleep with this book in my hands.

So many characters have grudges against one another leading people nearly getting killed. If everyone wasn't so petty then things would go so much smoother. But at the same time the book would probably be only half as long.

I am amazed how this series remains entertaining even at book 7. Book 7! I mean by this point in Anita Blake Series (which is super similar to this) has completely derailed entirely and went down in quality. This series is still staying strong.

Harry is going under cover at porno shoot and half the cast are sex vampires. This could have gone wrong so many ways. I applaud Jim Butcher's restraint and how so many of these characters and situations are not in bad taste at all. I think most other authors would have went insane with objectification and gratuitous sex scenes at this point. Thanks Mr. Butcher for keeping things classy! 😊
