This book is so hard to get through because the stuff it's describing is so vile. So greedy, and so callous about human lives.

Just a little over 500 pages in, about 150 more to go.

Done with part 1 detailing Arthur Sackler's life. What an egomaniac. Some part of me wonders how he could live with himself as a doctor doing what he did. The way he treats the people in his life - his wives, his children - is also deplorable.

The First Queen is quite possibly the biggest bitch I've ever read about. I love court politics but these chapters are making me soooo anxious
