I believe this is the most accurate and unbiased portrayal of the Operation Ajax I’ve read so far. Abrahamian rebuts and disproves most arguments about Mossadegh and the 1953 coup, including from pro-Mossadegh author Kinzer and pro-shah author Afkhami.

Incredibly biased toward MRP, with sources about the shah being primarily from MRP’s own words, the word of his family, the word of his closest advisors, and the word of his childhood friends.

The picture Afkhami paints is one from the perspective of the privileged royalist elites, which is exactly the class he comes from. Regardless, it’s a very informative read with interesting takes on the Pahlavi regime.
