I'm loving the world, blending elements of far future science fiction with traditional Chinese culture and history. I'm less interested in the main character so far. I like her worldview, but the way she interacts with it seems very anachronistic, very ya. Also this opening has seemed a bit rushed, but that's okay because I want more giant robot action!

Almost no substance to this story at this point, which is and isn't a critique. It's just a lot of dumb fun and while I wish there was a lot more focus on the action, the quick storytelling works well for this type of story.

A quarter of the way in, and I'm definitely still fascinated by this world. The audio book's two narrators are a bit jarringly different this far, and I'm enjoying Sona's story far more than Eris'. Eris is pretty typically YA thus far, rebellious and stubborn, and while it makes for some fun action movie comebacks, I find myself more interested in Sona's more reserved, strategic perspective.
