"The Tourist" is somehow everything I'm looking for in a short story.

"The Simple Things" felt so cheap and unearned.

"Missing Habitas Frond" is so cringe it almost feels misplaced.

Can we PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stop letting Chibnall write 13??? Give her over to Juno Dawson, or Uma McCormack, or Steve Cole! Those novels were good as I recall! Interesting, exploring the Doctor in novel yet familiar ways, getting me on board with 13 as a concept.

And I think the closest we're getting to blorbo is fuckin Things She Thought While Falling

"World Enough and Time" and "The Doctor Falls" came out first which is chiefly an academic point because both that two-parter and "A Girl Called Doubt" are good.

I'm pretty sure I read "Rhino of 23 Strand Street" in Doctor Who Magazine at some point but I don't care. Everything else has been a delight so far and I'm sure this is no different.

I know this was written before series 11 but I still can't help but think the assassin character is a Stenza.

so the ending on Vastra's lil tale kind of fell apart a little but I loved the vibes and also the feels of being so lonely and doing anything to have your family or your species back but also reckoning again with the fact that you disagree with them on pretty critical issues

I was right! "No Light, No Light" was good for a nice chill (although whether it's a "correct" representation of Loki is up for debate that I'm not equipped to settle).

A few more mid to good stories. They're fine but nothing is sticking with me in the tail end. There's a few to go though so, perhaps...

There are three categories rn. Bad ("Mawkin Field" and "The Blessing of the Waters", tho neither is as unbearable as "Master of the House"), mid to good (like the one I just finished, "Loyly Sow-na", and "Our Recent Unpleasantness", which was saved from the prior category by the title and the genuinely creepy imagery), and excellent (most everything else).

"Our Recent Unpleasantness" is going to haunt me for a WHILE (like "Rats" or "Snow Devils"). Adding it to the list of standouts.

"Ghost of Christmases Past" is good too

Now I desperately need to know more about Bear Creek Lodge. That creature sorta gave me Jenkin vibes, sans the appearance stealing.
