It’s been a few days!

It’s safe to say, I’m not a huge fan of science fiction but given that I liked the previous authors book, I expected this wouldn’t be so hard to digest. It’s a well researched book but I don’t like being given a presentation. The characters suffer because of it.

It’s sitting at a 3 stars for me right now.

I’m at part 3!

Despite everything going so horribly wrong, this seems to be ending pretty well!

This is really making me angry. It’s a great read but you can hear the warning bells going off.

This is starting to break my heart for a few reasons.

It turns out Murphy’s Law is just as applicable in space as it is on earth. I realize that in the end-of-the-world scenario, you can’t always be surrounded by good guys. However, gender politics and earthly politics have basically doomed humanity.

Everyone on earth is dead. Soon the ark will be a space graveyard.

So. Much. Science.

Is this a bad book? Absolutely not. It’s got a super fascinating premise and the execution, while lengthy and complex, is really compelling.

It’s also an 800 page behemoth.

Wow!

The writing style reminds me of the book Where the Forest Meets the Stars. I’m beginning to think the author just has a formula that works for them and that’s what they go for! It’s not a complaint. It works well and the writing makes you enjoy watching the story unfold.

I love the attention to detail.

So this book is interesting.

So far it’s a solid 4 stars. I’m not wowed by it yet but it has time to sprinkle that in there. It’s pretty good! I like futuristic lawless cities and inheritances. It tries really hard to be funny but it’s just missing the mark for me.

I think I’m going to have to track this one out. The suspense is killing me (literally).

This book is good but it’s absolutely frustrating to read. It’s written well but the men in this book and the way they seem to interfere with the plot is just… UGH.

This book makes me feel aggressive.

Holy cow.

I’m not a fan of horror but this book is very interesting. The story is just fascinating and gross.

Just letting y’all know:

I’m taking an intermission from ToG for a little bit. I really wanted to try and finish the series in 30 days but I can recognize the symptoms of series fatigue coming along. I’d like to enjoy the novels instead of preciously skimming them for plot.

That being said, I plan of finishing them in the near future! I just want to check out some other books in the meantime.

I’ve been peppering this book in the lulls of my current read.

I actually think the first scene with Nightfall (nutfall, nutwad or whatever other the names the author so cleverly called him) set such a hilarious precedent for the rest of the book.

Right now, our main characters is getting drunk and soliciting acts of the deviant kind in a large city. Pretty exciting honestly!

Can’t wait to see where it goes

Since I’m reading the 8 book kindle edition of this, I don’t exactly know what page I’m on or supposed to be on. Spoilers ahead!



I am just a little mad about the Deanna situation. I don’t like it. I really, really hope there’s a good explanation as to why that crap happened.

I’m a little late but I wanted to list some of my top novels I’ve read so far this year (in no particular order):

Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Faeries
The Priority of the Orange Tree
Remarkably Bright Creatures
A Court of Thorns and Roses (series)
Snow Crash
Daughter of the Moon Goddess (series)

All great reads so far that I’ve definitely recommended to anybody who has asked me.

I’m. Little over 50% of the way through! The experience has been amazing. This world is so incredibly flushed out. The writing is witty. The plot is amazing!

I don’t think there’s a book more cool than this. I’m not really sure if it’s the katanas, dystopian capitalist future, or having a main character named Hiro Proagonist that makes it cool but it just is.

So far it’s pretty interesting reading the perspective of the Southerns during the civil war. The story they tell is completely different than the one we’re taught during our education. I don’t sympathize with the Confederacy in the least.

Scarlett O’Hara is the most mean, nasty and manipulative person I’ve ever read about. She’s not meant to be a hero though. I actually like that about the book so far.

I’m reading A Court of Frost and Starlight!

I’m about 2/3rds of the way through.

Reading King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair (and regretting the 16 bucks I spent on the blasted thing).
